I learned English at school but over the years, I forgot almost everything. Last year, I was hesitant about going back to school but decided to give it a try. So I took the chance and went online in order to find the best option. I found the training program Captain Language; I immediately loved the opportunity to learn from home, in front of my computer. I connected every morning, at least 30 minutes. Mondays I spent reviewing grammar, Tuesdays working on vocabulary , Wednesdays was the time for "lesson of the day", Thursdays mainly dedicated to understanding and Fridays to watch some videos, during the weekends I rested. Well, after a few months I started feeling comfortable and I wanted to celebrate with a two day trip to London . At the hotel, in the restaurants and in stores, I understood what I was told and, more importantly, people could understand me. That was a great experience, it motivated me to continue with my courses, since then I have tried to connect at least 1 hour per week to maintain my level and keep learning new words. Today I can proudly say I am "Captain Language".

In 2013 I made my first trip to Peru. I loved the country, but at that time it was frustrating not being able to communicate with the locals. Upon returning from my trip, I finally decided to learn Spanish in order to better discover other South American countries. Why would a Canadian want to learn Italian? In Canada most people speak English and French in certain regions! In my case, I want to speak Italian because I fell in love with Italy 30 years ago during my honeymoon. Every 5 years since then, my wife and I return to this country to visit Venice, Rome, Florence and Sardinia ... Although I must say that our heart is in Puglia, the most beautiful part of the world in southern Italy. My wife and I have plans to move there to enjoy our retirement and as the Italians do not always speak very good English, it is up to us to learn Italian. I am Belgian, and in my country, the main portion of the population is divided between the Walloons and the Flemish. Walloons like me, speaks French, and the Flemings speaks Dutch (with a few different words). For this reason there are many job opportunities for those who speak both languages. Moreover, Belgian schools often teach Dutch as a regular part of the student's plan, but if you don't practice, you may lose your proficiency in the language gradually. Wishing to redirect my career, I set a goal to acquire a higher level in Dutch. Since I cannot go to school, I opted for the Internet course Captain Language. As this was the first time for me studying online, I had to let go of some of my prejudices about online education. I was afraid of being alone and lost. But ultimately, it is an advantage to be able to study at my own pace in front of my computer. You decide what you want to learn. For my part, I spent a lot of time on the grammar, that was my nemesis at school. As I also like to have a paper support I printed as well all the functional forms, so I can go through my Dutch during my bus trips.
